Internship Opportunity:

GRDA Ecosystems Management

Interested in water quality, environmental chemistry, limnology, ecology, or natural resources? The Ecosystems Management Department at the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) is currently accepting applications for summer interns to aid in monitoring and researching Grand Lake and related hydroelectric projects.

Routine duties include:

• Collection and Analysis of Water Samples
• Operation of watercraft
• Operation of state of the art field and laboratory equipment
• Testing for Harmful Algal and Bacteria Blooms
• Computer Tasks including data entry and equipment operation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Upper Level or recently graduated students interested in water quality, environmental/analytical chemistry, limnology, or aquatic biology.
• A general knowledge of limnology and limnological sampling.
• A valid driver’s license.
• The ability to swim 50 yards and lift 40 pounds.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior experience designing research projects.
• Prior laboratory experience.
• Prior boating experience including trailering and towing.
• Strong writing ability.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a teammate under extreme weather conditions.
